MHFA England calls on national network of Mental Health First Aiders to support during coronavirus crisis

friends hugging

Now more than ever with social distancing, local lockdowns, loved ones in hospital where visiting is not allowed mental health and wellbeing is at the forefront of our minds.

Many of us are missing that simple hug from a friend, that listening ear over a cuppa, escapism at an event, cinema or nightclub. It is so sad that mental health is often second fiddle to physical health when the two are inextricably intertwined. They must go hand in hand or one will affect the other.

Why do we not yet see organisations ensuring they have mental health first aiders in the same way they have general first aiders. Just because its not mandated?

The pressures of this strange world we find ourselves in today are taking its toll on everyone both physically and mentally. Lets ensure we can provide for each other’s mental health emergencies just as we have been doing for years with their physical health. Not because the government told us to but because we care.
