Key Skills to Self Build and Grow Confidence

Key Skills to Self Build and Grow Confidence – CBAT

Have you got a bad habit that you just can’t seem to shake? Perhaps you are the master of procrastination, or maybe you need to improve your interpersonal skills. The art of kicking bad habits in the workplace can be very overwhelming. Here at CBAT, we are here to help you take the necessary steps to build your skills and put your bad habits behind you!

Breaking Bad Habits – How to Retrain Your Brain

Replace Habits

Replace bad habits with new ones. You cannot form any kind of structure if you are excessively working and juggling too many tasks. For example, if you struggle with organisational skills, why not set up daily and weekly targets, or dedicate some of your spare time to volunteering? Eventually, your brain will learn to form new and healthy habits.

Identify Triggers and Patterns

Learn to understand what actually triggers a bad habit, and act! Perhaps demotivation is due to a lack of sleep, and that same boring alarm makes you hit the snooze button when it’s time to get up for work.

Recognise patterns in your behaviour and when daily routines become unhealthy. Some common habits such as procrastination, poor time management and having no boundaries can have a huge effect on mental wellbeing. It is important to be aware of this and speak to a manager who can put reasonable adjustments in place to support you.

Think Ahead

Habits often satisfy short-term impulses, but we must also consider the long-term effects. For example, staying in our comfort zone! We cannot experience new opportunities if we don’t leave it.
