What is a level 3 teaching qualification?
Would you like to work in higher education teaching a specialist subject or training people in a skill?
If you’re thinking about beginning a career in further education teaching or training, a level 3 qualification in teaching will equip you with all the basic skills you need to kickstart your career.
What is a level 3 teaching qualification?
A level 3 qualification in teaching is a nationally recognised qualification suitable for either of the following:
- Those with no teaching experience who wish to begin a career teaching in further education.
- Those who are already working as teachers and require formal recognition of their skills.
Level 3 teaching qualifications are designed based on the recommendations of the National Occupation Standards for Learning and Development, and the 2014 Professional Standards for Teaching in Education and Training.
A level 3 teaching qualification aims to cover all the basic knowledge and skills required to help individuals to work as effective teachers or trainers.
Some key topics that a level 3 teaching qualification may cover include:
- The roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer.
- Inclusive teaching and how to meet the needs of individual learners.
- Creating a safe, supportive, and motivating learning environment.
- How to assess learners.
- The relationship between teachers and other professionals.
- Planning and delivering engaging and informative lessons.
